Kaden is a hard worker, there's no doubt about that. He constantly sacrifices his time and do everything that he possibly can to show those above him what he can do, constantly seeking approval. He cares a great deal for the people around him, but is strict and refuses to bend the law which fights his need to keep those around him safe. Kaden's goal is to eventually become a Grey Warden, to seek approval from those he had heard legends about: Cailen, Duncan, Loghain. He just wants to protect and uphold the law.

In Highever, he was the second born of Arl Cousland, and had no want of taking over the Arl's duties. He was more interested in finding those he had heard heroic stories about, so he happily left those duties with his older brother, Fergus. He wanted to find them, train with them, fight with them, become a hero, something that could not be done if he was more concerned about the protection of one city.  Kaden begged his father to let him leave so he could seek them out, but he was enraged and wouldn't allow him to leave afraid that he would be hurt, but this wouldn't stop Kaden. He had heard of the meeting in Ostagar, all of his heroes in one place and he was not about to pass that up. As if fate had intervened, he would soon get his wish.  Arl Howe had betrayed his father.  While Fergus and many of the city's army had gone to Ostagar, Arl Howe attacked the castle in the dead of night.  Kaden paid a heavy price for his freedom.  While trying to escape, both his mother and father were slain.  On his mother's orders, he fled Highever. By the time that he had reached Ostagar, the darkspawn has already taken over and two out of three of his heroes had fallen. All of the Grey Wardens slaughtered. Unsure of what he was going to do, he treked to Lothering and along the roads, he was found by Loghain's men. The two men took him into custody, obeying their orders of finding any survivors in Ostagar and brought him to Loghain.

Loghain was safe for now as he learned that Kaden missed the battle. Before Loghain dismissed him, Kaden begged to allow him to join his army. He was determined to fight along with his last remaining hero and even though the Grey Wardens were supposedly no more, he would still find a way to make his dreams come true. Loghain allowed it and Kaden was soon admitted into the guard where he practiced along side the other men. He heard strange rumors from some of the men, contradicting stories of what happened at Ostagar. One group would say Loghain was a hero and others didn't seem so sure. Kaden had no idea what to believe, but he sure wasn't going to act out in his new position and knowing that Kaden was the Arl of Highever's son, Loghain kept close tabs on him.

Kaden quickly became skilled in his duties as a guardsmen and was usually tasked with patrolling Denerim, the road to Lake Calenhad and sometimes to check in with the Circle Tower. Kaden was well trusted within the guard, his firm hand and blind obedience was something that Loghain greatly needed especially after everything that happened. It wasn't long before Kaden heard rumors in Denerim of a Grey Warden that had survived. That of course peeked his interest and he did his best to gather as much information as he could. At the knowledge of this information, he was now at war with himself. Loghain ordered the men to track down and bring any remaining Grey Wardens to him personally, but if he did that he would never be able to join them. Duncan was dead, along with all but two. How they had escaped the mass destruction that he had viewed at Ostagar, he would never know. On the days that he had no duties along with the guard, Kaden suck out these Grey Wardens, assuming he would know what to do when he found them.

Finding her was no small feat. He traveled everywhere he could possibly reach, but it wasn't until Denerim that he found her. Kaden was unable to speak with her until after the Arch Demon was destroyed and the newly hero of Fereldin made her base in Vigil's Keep. It was there that Kaden was able to join the Grey Wardens finally, in the small city where they slowly grew their numbers back.

As a Grey Warden, Kaden still is strict with his orders and still holds everyone to the standard of doing the same. Now that his goals had been completed, he would obtain a new goal, to climb the ranks of the Greys and eventually become the commander where he can do some real justice for Fereldin.



COMBAT STYLE: Kaden is a warrior and is all about getting up close and personal with his foes. He holds a one-handed sword and never stops until his foe is down. Whether he kills them or not is completely up to those that ordered him after them. He holds no shield as he feels it slows him down and speed is everything to him in battle.
