GABRIEL CAZAL, MAGE

[attr="class","bxy"][attr="class","bb"]It's a good thing the Wardens judge by merit, because Gabriel would be long gone otherwise. He flaunts Grey Warden neutrality with impunity and his flare for the dramatic gives no lie to the fear most common people have of mages--he tends to come out swinging with flaming fists in all the bar fights he provokes.

He's a constant irritant to his poor Warden-Commander, one imagines, but for all his reckless gambling, indiscriminate casual sex and mouthiness, he's one of the best damned mages around. And he loves killing darkspawn and getting his hands dirty. He might be hungover in that battle, but he's still going to be on the front-lines, laughing like a hyena and blitzing through hurlocks like no tomorrow.

The middle child of six in a peasant family who lived in the farmlands surrounding Verchiel, Gabriel's magic manifested itself when he was eleven and his father told him to help harvest the crops instead of lazing around by the pond. The fields ended up on fire, and Gabriel was hauled by the scruff of his neck to the Montsimmard Circle, where the Wardens left him alone long enough for him to pass his Harrowing before he got conscripted.

Gabriel was glad for the opportunity. Inducted on the eve of word coming from Ferelden that a Blight was imminent and the Orlesian Wardens were needed, he and the others found themselves stalled on the borders of the country, kept just out of reach as the Blight unfolded and then folded back up just as quickly thanks to the last two Ferelden Wardens. Devastated to miss all the real fun, but glad enough to march into Denerim for the celebrations, Gabriel has been a devout Grey Warden ever since, voyaging into the Deep Roads with an unsettling glee.
