The real secret to not getting caught, no matter the deed, is to be as far away from the crime scene as possible, and as quickly as possible.
This was particularly helpful in Elodi’s case, because she often found herself unable to think in anything but the short term. So being out of the blast zone of any fuse she’d happened to light, quick enough so that her presence would be nothing but a vague and passing thought when the smoke set in, had proven beneficial.
Consequences were therefore, a foreign thing to her. She was never around long enough to know of their existence.
The pub is crowded, even more so than what she would assume was usual due to the storm outside.
Her trip across the border was therefore rescheduled until the thunder stopped crackling with a kind of aggressive intensity that had her convinced The Maker had an awfully violent case of the runs at the moment.
It makes her rightfully nervous, considering her current situation. Bards were masters in following trails, and as discreet as she was, staying here for so long considering her current line of work (if you could call it that) was just asking for a blown cover and a very dramatic night time chase scene.
While that was her style, the roads would be muddy and her boots were as expensive as they were new (which was very).
He catches her attention immediately, because her survival has recently depended on being able to identify even the most vaguely familiar faces. Especially ones who you sold a bag of shiny rocks under the guise of being lyrium. For a pretty penny at that.
There is no way to leave without stirring up attention with the pub being as packed as it is.
So she pretends not to notice, goes about her business as if completely and utterly ignorant of what he could possibly want in this establishment except a pint of shitty ale.
She’d painted herself the most earnest of merchants when they’d made the deal, and also a bit of an airhead. Wardens were supposed to be chivalrous after all—perhaps her chosen persona would carry her out of this (possible) debacle without much fuss.
