LEITHIAN & VIOLET

Oooh, I see some real fun potential here. On the one hand Violet is a spirit healer and in true Dalish fashion, Leithian does not truck with spirits, sees no difference between benevolent spirits and malevolent ones, and views spirit healers and blood mages alike as weak mages (it's an especially human failing in her eyes) who rely on others instead of their own strength.

On the other hand though, she's reverent of all forms of old magic, and shape-shifting is very old and very rare. She would admire Violet for that ability and respect her willingness to flee from the Circle, another human contraption Leithian disdains. So on a tentative note--I think they might be interesting together?

...Of course we'd have to find a way to smash these two illegal apostate mages together into a situation where they both realize the other is a mage, but hey, that'll be fun!

VIOLET & LETHIAN

I definitely see a lot of potential here! Violet generally doesn't trust anybody, and this extends especially mages, since she fears that they'll be templars waiting kill her for leaving the circle. Despite the fact that Lethian is an apostate, trust for Violet is earned through getting to know one another, and I think that the dynamic of Violet deciding how much of Lethian to trust and Lethian deciding whether Violet's actions/magic is something to detest or admire would be cool in itself?

Another thing that should make their relationship unique is that since Violet's shape shifting magic was taught to her by a hedge mage, she believes it's something terrible, only to be used because she has no other means of defending herself. It would be fitting if she were to learn about the lore behind it from an elf, if they were to ever get to that point. Basically, trust is the way to Violet's heart and emotions, which she usually keeps under a mask of stoic tension and anxiety.

I see them as either meeting up under peaceful circumstances, since Violet uses her shapeshifting magic in secrecy, but she wanders around bars to play music and (sometimes) heal people, so that may be how her name gets around. Would that be a possible way for them to meet? My knowledge of da is limited and few, haha, sorry about that!!

That would actually work out pretty well, since Violet feels like she only needs 'the song' to ensure she never forgets about her past, and she'd see Mark as a strong ally and wouldn't necessarily have any qualms with tracking down his roots/history, provided he'll let her tag along. Forming a strong friendship might take awhile, considering Violet's never had a close, lasting friend, but the fact that they'd have each others backs while traveling would speed up the process significantly. She'd try to pull her weight around their 'alliance' too, heal him after battles in exchange for the protection that he provides her etc etc. His blood magic would be a concept that she'd admire in itself, since it's the very opposite of her spirit healing, yet the concept is similar.

I'd like to see how they mesh together, personality-wise. Would you have any ideas as to how they could meet up, or maybe just run into each other in some deserted part of thedas, since Violet's constantly on the move? If so I'd be willing to start a thread for them!

Haha I don't imagine violet ever hiring/knowing about freya's affiliation with antivan crows, no! Freya's not a mage, though, so Violet would definitely find it easier to get along with a fellow musician as opposed to a fellow mage that may/may not have been part of the circle of magi.

I imagine them to be on decent - if not - good terms only because freya's a traveling musician on top of her assasination job, and music is very important to violet. She might also admire Freya's thieving if its robin-hood esque, steal from the rich and give to the poor sort of thing?

i feel liike in some ways, mark would probably encourage her to seek out who she is for herself considering the nature of his quest. that, and he has some disdain for people who sit around to be told what they need to hear. he doesn't see much fun in being direct about it, but it's definitely obvious to those who have been around him for long enough.

haha he's also a pretty bad friend in the sense that he lies and betrays his with very few scruples if he sees enough gain. especially since he doesn't see it as a particularly awful thing - a favor to them, even. what's life without a few challenges?

HAHA no she kills and steals for hire so uh. at least she fronts being a musician all the time? i think most people would actually need connections, orlesia or antivan to know much about what she does, although she has various job contacts throughout thedas as well. maybe they met at some bar and she was playing there? i can mock up a reason for her to be in ferelden if you want, since i know that orlais and antiva are like hella far
