god eusarius is one of those dudes whom i would love to hate
aka one of those characters that i wish i was competent enough to write
hey you can have mark!! he is an apostate blood mage who is looking to find out a little more about his family history in kirkwall, but he is also intellectually motivated to find out more about his blood mage powers without having to look over his shoulder for templars all the time, so i imagine that he would stop by eusarius' place every now and then if he would be welcome. they could even keep correspondence!! maybe eusarius could be like his patron or something, although i am not sure what he is looking for in return because mark is highly independent-minded and isn't like the doe-eyed servants that he's probably used to. he is totally chill and willing to negotiate, though!

but yes, negotiating is brilliant! eusarius has his little, idk, "people projects" where he gives support/assistance to those worthy of it, expecting something in return eventually. he'd be prepared to assist mark... as long as he doesn't perceive him as a threat.
as for how they could possibly have met - i'll just throw out some ideas because idk.
DA:O style random encounter - markus is travelling from point A to point B and comes across eusarius and some bodyguard types wiping out... some bandits. or some dalish who totally started it. or do darkspawn still roam around outside the deep roads? and then they can bond over blood magic! or have a tense talk about how Blood Magic Is Bad and should only be used in extreme circumstances.
orrr, idk, did mark study basic tevene in the circle? i assume they would learn some of the language since there would be a fair number of useful tevinter texts about magic... don't have anything from lore to back me up on that though. anyway, if mark were to overhear eusarius talking about blood magic in tevene, would he actually approach him about it? or he could just try to eavesdrop and eusrius might notice and subtly call him out on it?
but yeah, if mark is okay with being spoken to in a... nice and educational, but maybe kinda patronising tone, they could get on pretty well! if asked politely, eusarius might even offer to dig around for some info on the amells, though he probably won't actually lift a finger, let's be real.

I got a real problem in which I desperately want him and Eusarius to thread, but at the same time I'm like how, ya feel? Gabriel doesn't really care about blood magic to be honest, either in the direction of hating it or being interested in it, but he'd probably be interested in the Tevinter Imperium and what it's like over there, given his anti-Chantry Circles policy, and I can see him hitting up Eusarius for information--he'd offer to buy him a drink though!
Also not sure how into casual sex he is, but Gabriel would be down.
I ALSO REALLY WANT TO SEE GABRIEL AND JENOVA INTERACT. He would have fits over her impression of an Orlesian noble, he'd love it. Casual friends, maybe?

On the other hand, she would definitely dislike Eusarius. A proper Dalish First (although she left her clan before getting her blood writing, so it isn't apparent at once) she was imbued with a strong loathing for both the Tevinter Imperium and blood magic.
Not sure he'd give her the time of day unless they had a very fortuitous meeting, given that she's an elven barkeep, but something like the Random Encounter (tm) you suggested might work? She was traveling a lot before she settled in Kirkwall.

hey there!
i'd like to throw violet at eusarius; she's an apostate spirit healer that travels with mark so i think that if mark and eusarius were to meet up, they're bound to run into each other one of these days. She has a lot of the problems that a typical apostate has, so i imagine that if she can learn to trust eusarius then she'll see him as a strong ally that she can turn to without having to watch her back constantly.
also since she's around mark a lot, she's also fascinated about how blood magic works, so they could talk about that?? i don't know how much her shapeshifting magic would be of use to him, but i'd love to hear any ideas you have!

desc. i gather she likes to drink/visit bars? correct me if i'm wrong) where violet usually plays music to entertain people.
I don't think she'd have any problem with jenova's view on nobles and theft, either, there's nothing wrong with stealing from the rich in her eyes because they don't need it anyways. god i am not sure if i can promise that mark can appear totally nonthreatening. i mean he fronts as a pretty friendly guy but he can also be a little shit who occasionally says things that he shouldn't just to make things a little more interesting. i mean he's pretty lax as far as most blood mages go, but i don't think he would necessarily fear eusarius as much as he should /punches mark
haha he definitely studied illegal blood magic during his time in the ferelden circle under uldred (the main antagonist of the broken circle), so i imagine that he is familiar with tevinter texts. mark more or less regards blood magic as the same as any other branch. so honestly he probably wouldn't be too freaked out or anything about how rampant blood magic is in tevinter.
i think it would be 50/50 on whether eusarius might already know about the amells. i mean, the champion of kirkwall (hawke) openly used the crest of amell i think and they were the most powerful family in all of kirkwall about 30-40 years ago. i mean otherwise his family probs would have sent mark to the kirkwall circle and not all the way in ferelden.
if eusarius' reputation is really that far-reaching, however, mark might just seek him out and write him a polite letter to come learn about the inner workings of tevinter culture. especially if eusarius has been advertising his people project a little. if you're plotting with violet, then maybe we could have a three way thread? three mages talking about illegal magic over tea and crumpets oh yes

honestly freya is very single minded about each job and while he's pulling his "yo james bond" act freya would probably be devising ways to snap his neck even as she's been found out.

freya is mainly known for killing things, but she steals stuff too if a client specifically request it. being a bard is hard without sticky fingers. if jenova has spare gold on her hands, then freya can also take out pesky pursuers of whatever jehova's been stealing.
she's also orlesian if that helps anything. actually, she's only like three years older so maybe they've even known each other in orlais? maybe met at a social event at some point?

i don't think eusarius would ever go near the deep roads himself, though he'd probably spend a lot of time in orlais, and of course he has to meet the super-noble grey wardens, the staunch and resilient protectors of thedas. and of course eusarius is only interested in talking with the mages, which is where he meets gabriel? i think they'd hit it off quite nicely. i just want to see them snarking at each other or something. they could discuss various creative ways to kill things with magic! good fun. and human mage of a similar age? of course eusarius would be interested in casual sex. that's like... all his turn-ons omg, haha.

| MARK + EUSARIUS hmm, yeah, i would imagine that if there were a sort of "apostate community", and if mark were to have connections with them, he would probably hear about a magister who seems like a pretty okay guy, and seems to be helping some apostates migrate to tevinter. well, a pretty okay guy aside from the blood magic thing, but as you say, it's not something that would preclude mark from getting in contact.
but yeah, i would love to thread mark, violet, and eusarius together! so if you guys are keen, i could start a thread whenever. just say the word c:

Haha yes, let's make this happen. Eusarius coming to visit Orlais and wanting to meet the Grey Wardens (with a no non-mages allowed sign tacked up on his clubhouse) seems as a good a start as any to me. I think they have enough to just talk about that a thread might go any number of interesting places without much pre-planning, honestly!
As for Gabriel and Jenova, he would love to help her get into the Deep Roads. He doesn't really need an excuse to get down there himself, to be honest. He'd view it as an adventure. If you want to me to start either thread, or both, just let me know.

They could already know each other in some form of another; perhaps they had done business in the past, perhaps they do business now. Maybe they're rivals! Or allies. Or "allies." yesss, okay. i think... this could really go either way, to be honest. eusarius fronts as a very diplomatic person, and if he were to see decima as an asset he would definitely approach her and offer a partnership. if he were to know about her origins, he would gently point out that she needs allies more than he does, basically. and if decima isn't particularly... discreet in regards to her penchant for cruelty, i imagine eusarius would try to warn her against being so obvious, as other magisters might feel threatened, and that would cause more problems, etc.
so i'm inclined to say we should either just drop them in a thread together as just "people who are aware of one another" and see what happens? maybe start with a simple plot against a NPC magister with an "enemy of my enemy is my friend" approach and see how that develops?
but in the longer term, i'd really like to have this massive... screwed up and kinda gorey magister plot (with betrayals and cruelty and all that good stuff!). so idk. we should... work something out, if you're keen? c':

He's been held "captive" by an apostate in the Korcari Wilds and only escaped a few years back. He'd definitly be interested in a Tevinter magistrate, and being the traveler he is I'm sure Tyrael would come into contact with Eusarius time to time.

Tyrael is like an amateur version of Jenova, he currently doesn't have the money to simply go looking for Relics all the time, but I'm sure if he met Jenova he would be all in with the entire Idea. He is pretty young, but he's great in a pinch and being an Arcane warrior means he isn't bogged down by most mage problems, he can wield a dagger just as good as any rogue, and is versatile in his uses.
Tyrael would totally be down to be a fellow relic hunter and a thief to help her out, maybe Jenova could even teach him a few things.

TYRAEL + EUSARIUS hey there! considering their respective backgrounds, tyrael might have to be the one to reach out to eusarius... i would say that they run in separate "circles" so to speak, haha! basically, eusarius grand "vision" for all apostates is that they belong in tevinter. in circles, perhaps, but in tevinter ones. beyond that, it's a question of what they can offer him that someone else can't. in tyrael's case, i would say that being an arcane warrior - a very rare form of magic - would absolutely catch eusarius' attention!
